Just yesterday, Munich Business School (MBS) welcomed its new students at the official 2018 MBS Semester Opening ceremony. For the first time ever, the festive event was held at the premises of the renowned Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in close vicinity to the MBS campus.
In front of about 200 students, most of them freshmen, lecturers, and staff, Prof. Dr. Stefan Baldi, Dean of Munich Business School, warmly welcomed the audience with a speech highlighting the diversity and internationality of the student body: amongst the 200+ new students that joined MBS for the current semester, there are 38 countries represented, summing up to a 55 percent share of internationals; and for the first time ever, there are slightly more female than male students amongst the freshmen (51 to 49 percent).
Following was MBS President, Dr. Alfred Gossner, who in his Opening Speech called upon the new students to approach today’s big (social) challenges while also addressing the topic of self-optimization in this context.

Living the MBS Spirit – An Intercultural Friendship
The final presentation featured two MBS Master International Business alumnae – Claudia Oberbeck from Germany and Yao “Jane” Wang from China –, who got to know each other during their very first days at MBS, and have since been building a deep “intercultural friendship”.
Claudia and Jane provided their first-hand insights on why they decided to join MBS, on what studying at MBS is all about, on their semesters abroad at National Taiwan Normal University (Jane) and Boston University (Claudia), and on their common curricular as well as extracurricular activities such as travelling Germany and China together. A truly inspiring story by two great MBS ambassadors!

The speeches were followed by the presentation of the MBS Awards, which are awarded to students (and a faculty member, as well) who have shown particular commitment during their studies – for example as student representatives or as ambassadors of MBS.
