Empowering Change: A Collaborative Case Study on Business and Identity by MBS Faculty Members

A new case study in The Case Journal highlights the collaborative research efforts of Munich Business School faculty and partners. Authored by an international team, including Christopher Weilage, a core faculty member at MBS, and led by Jose Alcaraz, MBS Research Fellow, and former faculty member, the case leads students through the entrepreneurial journey of Carolina Contreras, founder of Miss Rizos.

Miss Rizos, a beauty salon and social enterprise, empowers Afro-Dominican women to embrace their natural beauty while challenging cultural stereotypes and addressing societal discrimination. The case offers rich insights into the intersection of identity, social impact, and business strategy, making it a valuable teaching resource for fostering critical thinking and purposeful leadership.

This collaborative effort underscores Munich Business School’s commitment to impactful research that promotes diversity, inclusion, and entrepreneurship. Congratulations to the authors for a publication that brings a delicate topic and a social enterprise in a developing market to classrooms for discussion.
